Also known as “red cedar” or “aromatic cedar”, this essential oil is produced from a species of juniper native to eastern North America. Juniperus virginiana is a slow-growing evergreen tree that produces small blue-green berries. Known for its distinctly sweet, lemony, woodsy scent, Native American tribes have been burning cedar for important rituals and purifying ceremonies for centuries. The branches were also used to create medicinal tonics.

Cedarwood’s potent anti-seborrheic, antiseptic, and astringent properties are proven to offer great relief in cases of eczema and other inflammatory conditions as it effectively regulates sebum production, reduces inflammation and itching, and heals the skin.
